Label LIVE is used around the world in homes, garages, warehouses, office buildings, on (under?) the ocean, and in the sky. Let's make sure you've got the correct license for your usage.

Label LIVE is 99.9% functional without a license. What's the catch? Any print will print with a watermark. This means you can quickly evaluate Label LIVE or design a label for printing on a licensed computer.

If you use a feature that's not included in your current licensing you'll see a "

" button. Hovering over this button will describe the feature(s) and associated license required.

Signup for a free trial to temporarily remove the watermark for 14 days. This is equivalent to a Logic license.

Need to print holiday card labels? Organizing your bins? The low-cost Home/Personal license is made for home, 

Accidentally purchased a Home license and need an advanced feature? On the license portal click "Use for Business" and choose the Business or Logic upgrade. The price is just the difference that you would have paid.

Purchasing a Business license removes the watermark for 

barcoding, thermal transfer printing, and more advanced variable usage

What license should I choose?

License codes are short (8 character) codes that can be redeemed for a Label LIVE license. Once redeemed, the license may be used like any other Label LIVE license.

 and install Label LIVE from our website. App Store versions of Label LIVE do not support license codes.

Once open, click any "Watermark" button. It will look like this:

Enter the code and email address that will manage Label LIVE licenses.

You will receive an email with instructions to finish setting up your account. Once finished, login.

You will receive an email with a license file attached.

If Label LIVE is running on the same computer you can click the computer name and then click 

How do I redeem a license code?

 include the ability to design and print labels with Label LIVE. Once your mydpi printer is connected, Label LIVE will work perfectly.

Opening Label LIVE without a mydpi printer attached will show "Watermark will print." Connect your mydpi printer via USB and Label LIVE will automatically license the printer with the equivalent of a Logic License.

If you need to print to a different (non-mydpi) printer, you will need to purchase a Label LIVE license for that computer.

There are a few reasons why a watermark may still be printing.

Are you using Business or Logic features?

A Label LIVE subscription requires an Internet connection to refresh the license at least once before the license expires. Learn how to refresh the license here:

Label LIVE will automatically license itself for mydpi printers. Just plugin the printer and after a few seconds, you should be good to go. 

Can your mydpi-connected printer access the Internet?

Although the initial licensing requires an Internet connection, the mydpi license will work offline. If the computer you're trying to license is permanently offline, you can follow 

these instructions for registering an offline computer

 to receive a complimentary offline license.

Why is the watermark still printing?

This is an answer on how to switch, change, or otherwise move an existing Label LIVE license to another computer or PC.

The “Computer Name” is displayed on the License screen. For example, this computer’s name ends in “F8X.”

Your license can only be reused if you  stop using Label LIVE on your old computer. On the license website click on the old computer's name. Toward the bottom click on the red "Retire Computer" button.

After retirement the licenses are now available for use on other computers. If the new computer is registered, you can click on the new computer and "Use" the license. You can also click on the available license and "Choose Computer."

If the new computer is unregistered you can create a license invitation. This is great when you know the user but don't have the computer details.

Click "Create Invite" and copy the invitation. A license invite will start with 

This code can be "Pasted" into Label LIVE versions 2.9.0 and newer.

Once pasted, the invite will automatically register the computer and install the license.

If you want to use Label LIVE on two computers then please consider purchasing a second license.

How do I move a Direct license to a different computer?

Label LIVE is designed to be licensed per computer. 

If you have 3 people using 3 computers to print, then you will need 3 licenses.

Can I use a license on more than one computer?

No, subscriptions can only be applied to one computer at a time.

Did you change or upgrade your computer? If so, we can easily move your subscription to a new computer.

Can I use a subscription on more than one computer?

Computers don't always have an Internet connection. We made Label LIVE so it can be installed, licensed, and used without ever being connected to the Internet. These kinds of computers are often called "isolated" or "air-gapped" because they are disconnected, either for security purposes or because of other environmental or business restrictions. 

Download Label LIVE on at least one computer that is connected to the Internet. You can save the downloaded installation file to a USB drive to allow transfer to the remote computer. You will want to install Label LIVE on at least one computer connected to the Internet.

To signup for an account you will need Label LIVE installed on at least one computer connected to the Internet This can only happen inside Label LIVE by clicking on the "Watermark" button and entering your email address. Follow the instructions you receive in your email to finish setting up your account.

This computer's registration information will show on the licensing website. Chances are you don't want to purchase a license for this computer, so you can safely ignore it.

On the isolated computer, install Label LIVE and click on the Watermark button. Click on "Copy Registration." This will copy the registration to the clipboard so it can be pasted in another application. You may want to paste to a text file using Notepad or TextEdit and save to a USB storage device.

Note that the computer in this screenshot 

 is the same as the previous screenshot. Your isolated computer will have a different name. Take note of that name, because you will purchase a license for that computer.

Transfer the computer registration code back to a computer connected to the Internet and click on "Buy and Manage Licenses" to open the Label LIVE License website. Add the computer to your account by clicking the dropdown menu button and click Add.

Paste in the computer registration ID and click Register.

The computer is now registered. Click on the isolated computer's name to show purchasing options.

Because the isolated computer is not connected to the Internet you should purchase a one-time license – 

. Subscriptions require an Internet connection at least once per month to refresh the license expiration.

After you purchase a one-time license you can copy the license code or download a license file.

The code or file will need to be transferred to the isolated computer. On that computer, you can either double-click the license file or paste in the license using this button.

Can I purchase a license for a computer not connected to the Internet?

If you have an active subscription but your Label LIVE is still printing a watermark it could be because your license expired.

Subscription licenses are designed to automatically refresh at app launch and then periodically throughout the day (while the app is open). You must be connected to the Internet for the subscription to refresh properly.

There are a few reasons why a subscription might expire:

To force the subscription to refresh hover your mouse cursor over the expired text.

If everything works, the license will update and become active.

How do I renew an expired subscription?

Subscriptions to Label LIVE are only available in the version downloaded 

Subscriptions are not available in the versions available from the App Store.

To buy a subscription, uninstall (Move to Trash) the App Store version and 

All saved label designs are saved as individual files on your computer. Deleting the App Store version will not delete your label designs. However, Label LIVE's Home screen of "Recent Designs" will likely be empty. You will need to find the design files (.lsc) and double-click them to open.

Where can I buy a subscription?

Sometimes a user will want to transfer their App Store license to a “direct” license.

Label LIVE license accounts are separate from your App Store account.

From Label LIVE’s Home screen, click on the Watermark button and enter your email address.

You will receive an email. If you don’t see it, check your spam or junk folders. Click on the email’s Setup link and set up your account password.

5. Login and Optionally Start a Free Trial

You can immediately start a Free Trial. Do this if you need to print now. There is no delay and you can immediately begin printing labels.
